Jo is a documentary photographer from South Wales UK, focussing on the stories and relationships of families, communities and artisans. She believes in connecting with the people she photographs, going on a journey with them to genuinely feel and see a part of their lives. Family life for Jo consists of a rusty much-loved VW Camper and waking up to a brew with a sea view as much as possible.
Through My Childhood Window, is a personal project during lockdown. Photographing the rooms of her parents’ home (her childhood home) while delivering food to them while they shielded. Jo is now in the process of applying for funding to create a performance-based exhibition at this home.
Families Resetting, explores life with families who’ve been thrown a curveball, but are managing to move on and live on with hope, resilience and immense courage. Using photographs and narrative, Jo is building stories of family life with comparisons to those who experienced similar events 50 years ago.
